UP's decision for the rest of 2nd sem 19-20

:pensive:

Parang masyadong disservice sa karamihan yung mass promotion. So swerte yung mga kumuha ng mahihirap na subjects this sem kasi nawala totally yung risk of failing? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Basta, parang ang dating sa akin eh:

mass promotion == lowering the standards

May ganun ba nung Martial Law? Kung meron, ano ang precedence?

During Second Sem 1985-86, as a result of the People Power Revolution, mass promotion nangyari.

Ano kayang ganap sa UP noong WWII pala?

Waiting for details.

Alam ko hinold lahat.

I read that in WW1, when the Philippines was still under the Americans, UP students volunteered for service in Europe. All they asked in return was that their slots in the university were put on hold and that they be allowed to pick up where they left off.

Found out some details but I’m not at a liberty to say a lot but… just a tiny bit.

It’s not exactly what the USC wanted but I don’t think they will be mad. (If the Board approves.)

Recommendation pa lang yun. But I think its a fairer option kesa sa gusto ng USC.

Nag-censor pa ako, they got a copy na pala:

This was also posted by the student regent in his FB page.

How’s the reception?

Essentially, this places the assessment on the professors. Kung gusto na nila tapusin yung sem and cancel the requirements, they can. Kaso that’s a disservice to student learning, I think.

Midyear term as catch up terms would be better eh. Imagine having to take up extra lectures/ bridging programs on the same sem you need to take a higher course? Paano kung Math yung cancelled class mo for this sem? :embarasslaff:

I haven’t seen the comments on the post. I just saw it because it’s public. Sa twitter, some said fair enough. Yung iba naguguluhan. Yung iba sana numerical grade na lang din daw ibigay since requirements will still be submitted.

Di ko pa na-absorb fully yung recommendation.

But mas tanggap ko na 'to kesa mass promotion.

I’m both teaching and studying.

OVPAA memo re: conduct of 2nd sem 19-20:

So Thursday natin malalaman ang final decision?

Yup

I realized, ayoko na. :crying: Na-overwhelm ako dun sa “for faculty”.

Ang pinagkaiba ng 1985-1986 ay naka 8 weeks of classes na from November to early January. Tapos may resumption of classes after EDSA. Roughly umabot ng 12 weeks of classes.

Ngayon 6 weeks of classes pa lang.
