Kids Say the Darndest Things

When we were scouting for schools, I asked her ‘san mo gusto mag school?’

No major injuries or anything (napagalitan pa ako ng driver :man_facepalming:)

Nung kinuwento ko sa kapatid ko (5 years old at the time) pagdating ko sa bahay, sinagot ba naman ako ng

“Bakit buhay ka pa?”

So you know how Filipino parents, especially moms, always say to use your eyes when you’re looking for something. So me and my wife always tease each other when one cannot find an object, only for the other to find it - and then we would comment about using the eyes and not the mouth.

Yesterday, I asked my 3YO to hand me the scotch tape from his crafts area. It took a while and then he gave up, and says it’s not there. So I go over, and voila, it is there. I showed it to him, and then he replies “oh, I used my mouth to look for it.”

OMG I laughed loud and long at this, salamat sa laughter therapy :rotflmao: I can absolutely imagine. I can’t wait for the cute-mortifying things this LO will surely utter in the coming months/years.

onT: While visiting our friends at their home, usap usap kami sa living room then their 18 month old (at the time, 5 years old na now) waddled over, clambered up to her mommy’s lap, and started tugging at her blouse. Mom friend was just subtly swatting away the toddler’s hands and continued talking but then we all stopped when the toddler screamed: BOOBIEEE! BOOOBIIEE! :rotfl:

And that’s when I knew, when I have a kid, I will refer to nursing as “dede” kasi di siya obvious sa mga kano. I’d rather my toddler scream DEDE in a crowded restaurant than demand for a BOOBIEEEEEEE.

When we were potty training, i told my husband na isama sa toilet si toddler para makita ang how-tos. One time, we have friends visiting at home. Behind closed toilet doors, my lo shouted, “Da, that’s big! Mine is small”. The horrors! :embarasslaff:

But no, my lo made sure we all know it. Paglabas ng banyo, he ran to the visitors and said, “mine is still small, when i grow up it will be big. Like dada” :amazed: :embarasslaff:

We went to visit Surigao tapos ‘yung friend namin na taga-roon insisted that we stay sa kanila on our last night there. In the morning, while our friend was preparing breakfast, ‘yung 4y/o pamangkin niya asked, “Tita, uuwi na ba sila?” Lumingon sa amin ‘yung bata sabay sabi, “Oh, no! Dito na naman kayo kakain?” :rotflmao:

Alam naming she didn’t mean that in a bad way pero medyo <awkward> pa rin.

Ito kanina lang nangyari during our bedtime prayers. Yung prayer kasi namin goes something like this: “Keep us safe from bad people and make them good people too. We pray for our family, friends, and the people who died. Amen”

Hindi ko alam kung antok na or nagmamadali lang yung 5-year-old ko. Ito ang sabi nya:

“We pray for the people who died and make them good people too.” Narealize nya yung mali nya. Kasi natawa sya, tapos tawa na lang kami with his 7-year-old bro. :rotflmao:

Kanina, while I took the dog out for a walk, kasama si baby. Dog took a poop sa grassy area under one of the trees sa parking lot ng complex namin, my son became ever the cheerleader and started saying out loud:

“DD (dog’s name) poo-poo, DD poo-poo, poo-poo, poo-poo…YAY!!!”

Syempre, while cleaning up the dog’s poop, humirit ulit, “Mama poo-poo ewwww”

Laughtrip magbasa dito :rotflmao:

• Very young pa ang anak ko kaya wala pa ako ma-share talaga… except mukhang ang first word niya ay “Alexa” (pronounced “a-ey-ta” dahil palagi niya kami naririnig mag-utos kay Alexa [Amazon Echo]) :twak: Akala namin water nung una pero napansin namin kay Alexa talaga siya tumitingin pag sinasabi nia

• Yung isang anak ng friend namin, nagtotoilet training. Eh yun, “toilet” talaga ang word na alam niyang sabihin pag gusto niyang mag-banyo.

So tuloy everytime naiihi siya, lalo in public, ang lakas ng sigaw niya “DAD, TOILEEEETTTT!!!”

:moon: :toilet:

This happened when my firstborn was 5 years old.
N: I had broccoli for lunch in school today. I ate them all!
Me (incredulous): Really? How come you don’t eat the broccoli I prepare here at home?
N: Because I want it fresh.
Me: Fresh? (thinking if the broccoli I prepare is not fresh)
N: I want it fresh from the cafeteria!!

Another one. While we were there, ‘yung isa naming kasama, hindi namalayan na nakatulog na. Nang mapansin ng isang bata (mga 4-5 y/o siguro), kinalabit niya ako and, in all seriousness and pointing to my sleeping friend, tinanong niya, “Patay na rin siya?”

Sabi nya sa akin habang nakatingin sa mga anak ko: “Why do you have only boys?”

This reminded me of something that my 1 year old did just a week ago! He doesn’t really talk yet, only a couple of syllables and sign language na tinuro sa daycare.

But anyway, a week or so ago, he started hitting me in the face for absolutely no reason except maybe for gigil. Masakit siya manampal! I tried everything Google suggested to discourage it but none worked. One time, he hit me pretty hard so I pretended to cry, clutching the part of my face na pinalo niya. Napatigil siya and he hugged me and patted my back. The next time he did it again, ayun pretend cry ako ulit. He was taken aback for a second, but then walked off, also pretend crying into his hands “huu-huuu!”. Putakte, he was imitating my fake cry! I died laughing. I couldn’t believe he was capable of that kind of mockery :rotfl:

Haha!! I think he was just 2 years old then. Ang galing magpaawa!

OnT: Kanina lang naguwi ng McDonald’s meal yung hubby ko, tanong ko sa 5-year-old ko (same kid as above): Do you want fries?"
He said, “Is that French? I don’t want French!” :rotfl:

Katy at 3

Nung nasa princess phase pa si Katy:
Katy to Mi: “Mommy ng Princess, subuan mo ako.”

Mimi finds Katy in the room playing with the iPad without our permission.
Mi: “Oy ano yan!”
Katy: “Don’t say Hoy. Tsaka bakit asa kama yung iPad at hindi naka-pack away?”

My 2 year old was asking me to put her portable slide on the bed. I think natitigasan siya sa sahig.

Me: No.
LO: Please (more like pis)
Me: If daddy says yes.
LO went to daddy.
LO: Daddy, yes please.
Daddy: Yes? (He didn’t know what was happening at that time)
LO: Thank you daddy.

Then she went back to me and smiled expectantly.
