What is the first language of your supplier? Ginamit ko dati sa boss ko (French) yung “do let me know” o “please let me know” and he found it rude. Sabi niya sakin, “Please, no need to talk to me that way”. Gulat talaga ako kasi very polite naman yung expression - at least for English speakers. I consulted a Spanish acquaintance who also spoke French about it, ang sabi niya tunog imperative daw kasi if the person thinks in French.

Chinese yung supplier. Eh mas blunt nga sila eh but thinking if I translate the line in Chinese it’s not rude naman, rather normal tone lang. I think more na saving face thing sa kanila kaya ganun reaction.

When I follow up, I do email with “a gentle reminder”

I used to be pithy in emails until i was told off that i come across as rude. Ayaw ko kasi machechebureche. Ngayon may disclaimer na ako sa signature (if using phone):
"Pls excuse the pithiness, replying from phone. "

“Mixed Signals” - when boss tells you to do something when other persons are present vs what boss really wants you to do kapag kayo na lang ang magkausap
“Patience is a virtue”- Lagi naming sinasabi kapag overloaded na sa work pero you know na kailangan mo pa ring gawin at di ka pwedeng magreklamo
“TOP priority or TOP urgent” - meaning ito ang uunahin mo sa lahat ng priority mo. Me mas urgent pa kaya dito? :exploding_head:

Reminds me of my first jobber days.
A client once followed up via email saying: “Follow up on this please.”

I didn’t know any better, so I thought that’s a good way to follow up in the corporate world.

So when it was my turn to follow up with my client, I used the same spiel, “Follow up on this please.” :headshake:

My boss reprimanded me in a funny and friendly way: Kaya hindi sya nagrereply kasi masungit ka mag-email :laugh:

^ Oh I’m known to be blunt and curt on emails. I’m the youngest and I joined a very traditional company so lahat ng emails nila may sandamakmak na pasakalye pa bago dumirecho sa punto haha.

Not sure kung nashare ko na dito.

Scrum words : blockers, backlog, sprint, look ahead, progress.

Sa memos at emails for sure may isang word dito na kasama: path forward, risk analysis, safety concern, resolution, inherently safer design, interim mitigation

At ang walang kamatayang pantigil sa napakahabang diskusyon: it is what it is. :laughing:

Kapag nagtanong sa con call na obvious namang pang sarili at hindi para sa grupo

Kapag may ayaw sundin agad (na hindi from top mgt)

Meeting na 5 mins lang dapat pero nauuwi sa 30mins…
