Mimi and I took up pottery and ceramics at the UP CFA ceramics workshop. It is 7 sessions with 12 kgs of clay (6 sessions clay, 1 session glazing) for P6500. I think nagtaas na sila presyo and nagbawas ng clay, check niyo na lang if interested kayo.

May 2 ceramics workshop: wheel pottery and hand building/ ceramic scupltures. Lagi syang mabilis mapuno, 1-2 days lang na-announce ubos na slots. We only took the wheel workshop. UP has 4 foot powered wheels and a around 4 electrics wheels rin made by DOST. Ang ganda rin ng ceramic workshop ng CFA, parang feeling mo asa artist studio ka talaga :hahaha: Sobrang saya siya. For me medyo meditative rin.

Imagine working with your hands, kneading and prepping the clay, centering the clay and throwing the clay to form the pieces.

Tapos you need to let your pieces air dry for a few days then you can trim your pieces using the wheel and trimming tools to remove excess clay.

After it is air dried and trimmed, it is fired first to its bisque form. These bisque pieces can now be glazed. You dip your pieces into different types of glaze then they will undergo final firing sa kiln.

You’ll need lots of patience, yung pag prep ng clay, kelangan todo knead para maailis ang air bubbles. Air bubbles can cause cracks kapag nag dry or during firing sa kiln.

Yung pag dry pati kelangan uniform and slow drying or else mag crack rin. Siempre because of water weight and drying, your pieces will shrink. Also since iba iba rin ang effect ng glazes sa different temperatures, di mo rin alam kung ano kakalabasan ng ceramic pieces mo.

Wow, ngayon ko lang nalaman 'yang Tahanan Pottery. Will definitely check it out.

Para sa mga taga-UPLB o Elbi area in general, pwede niyo rin i-follow ang Ili Likhaan Ceramics. Taga-UP CFA rin yung artist, and she holds workshops minsan dyan sa studio niya sa Elbi, minsan sa UPD area, Little India (Malingap), or wherever she is.
