Travels derailed by COVID-19

Anong travels ninyo, whether personal or work, ang hindi natuloy because of the pandemic? Will you still push through with your travel plans after?

Here’s my list:

  • Nepal, March - was supposed to facilitate a course but cancelled by government.
  • Boracay, March - travel with cousins, opted for a full refund from Cebu Pacific.
  • Koh Samui in August - attend a rainbow wedding but the couple postponed it to next year. Ang expensive ng flights from BKK to the island, buti na lang hindi pa kami naka-book. Still waiting for airline advisory then will decide kung tutuloy pa rin sa BKK.

Bohol for the Holy Week dapat
Maldives next month pero closed na ang Maldives for all incoming flights :frowning_face:

In fairness sa Agoda - ang bilis ng refund nila. Within 5 days ay nagreflect na sa credit card ko ang previous payments ko.

Punta dapat ako ng bkk sa sunday para sa songkran. Ehehe.

Brunei, March. Buti na rin, wala na pala ako funds. :embarasslaff:
Japan, wala pa naman plano, pero baka di matuloy this year. Gusto ko sana masulit ang visa, but COVID happened nga. :crying:

Australia. Today dapat lapag ko sa Sydney then to Melbourne for the International Comedy Festival. Baka next year ko nalang ituloy. Sayang ang visa!

Singapore. First improv performance outside of the Philippines. Pushed to November.

Was supposed to fly to Chicago to visit family. We also used to drive up to LA every two weeks.
Meron din dapat balak mag-Christmas sa Pilipinas, pero I guess that’s going to be scrapped too.

Japan. work-related. cancelled yung event na rason ng pagpunta ko doon.

Was supposed to go to Osaka and Kyoto late last month. Oh well, buti na lang din hindi natuloy. Japan’s response to the pandemic is kinda disappointing and AFAIK, marami sa mga first cases natin ay imported from Japan :scream:

Solomon Islands dapat nitong March - now moved to Aug (kung wala ng covid)
Vanuatu dapat ngayong May - now moved to July (kung wala ng covid)
Cambodia dapat ngayong Apr - now moved to June (kung wala ng covid)
US dapat ngayong Apr - now moved kung kelan i-a-announce ng Pearl Jam yung new dates ng concerts nila.

AU-NZ for holyweek
Nanganganib na rin yung July trip ko. Nagoffer na ng refund ang airlines :bicker:

  • Japan, March - rebooked to October pero baka i-rebook ko ulit to next year. Sobrang hassle nito kase marami na akong nabiling vouchers/tickets sa Klook and I had to request for refund 2 weeks before the travel date.

  • New Zealand, July - di ko pa to naka-cancel. Will reassess by May. :bawling:

Somehow I’m thankful at natapos na lahat ng gala namin for the first quarter. Dapat lang may Las Casas kami ng March so hindi na natuloy yun. :wink:

Osaka next week w family. Airfare refunded, airbnb floating for rebook, visa sayang.

All remaining trips for the year (HCMC July, Bkk Sept, Frankfurt Dec), i-cancel ko na. I dont want to risk it. These are business travels for customer visits and trade shows.

Punta dapat kami ng Banff sa summer - nagcancel na kami - yung AirBnB host namin nag-ask pa kung because of COVID-19 daw ba or is there any other reason.

Depressed for weeks dahil daming napurnadang trips!

  1. off-campus negotiations competition sa University of Denver nung April 3
  2. Philippines vacay for bebe boy to meet our families, with 2 big family reunions (side ng nanay at tatay ko)
  3. Summer study abroad program sa St. Andrews University – admitted na, process nalang ng student loans :bawling: pero ni cancel na nila!

I was in denial for a bit, confident na matutuloy it wouldnt be as bad–SARS happened, Ebola happened, pero neither really impacted my life. But as the end of March approached, my hopes quickly faded into ashes! Still sulky about it but it’s a resigned sulk.

Berlin, Germany (March)- dalaw sana kay brother-in-law.

Male, Maldives (August)- birthday travel sana.

Yung December trip ko sana sa Philippines matuloy kasi miss na miss ko na ang tatay at mga kapatid ko. :bawling:
