I like finding hole-in-the-wall restaurants that offer good food. More often, I also like keeping these restaurant finds to myself
Pero let’s do away with that! Kindly share naman your restaurant finds - what’s the best dish and where the restaurant is located.
I’ll start. First is Felicidad in Maginhawa St. Masarap yung chicken wings nila, and their prices are student-friendly
Second (although I think meron steady following ito) is Brewing Point along Congressional Avenue. I always eat their sandwiches and potato wedges. Laging madaming tao and it seems general hang-out ng mga tao sa area.
Gosh I am looking at their pics right now and salivating for SINIGANG NA BAGNET Think of any staple ulam and replace the meat with bagnet, they most likely serve it! Also, I feel like my life is a lie kasi #NKLN na ang ‘totoong’ pangalan pala nila ay Mamang’s Best Bagnet & Ilocano Dishes kumbaga alternick ang Vigan Mixxx.
Ate Fe’s Kitchen. Magiting cor. Maginhawa. The only sisig that satisfies me. Other menu items are regular carinderia fare.
Little India in Malingap. Vegan, sattvic Indian food. I love anything on their menu. Daming dumadayo na native Indians dito. Last time I was there I overheard two natives saying that they traveled there from Makati.
Buen Comer 30 Mahabagin. Still a hole in the wall type pero popular na rin. Pares burrito, kare-kare burrito. Haven’t tried their steak pilaf yet. Big servings.
Fong Wei Wu in Banawe cor Samat St., QC. Super sarap Taiwanese food. Puro mga natives din kumakain. Fave namin ang shrimp with egg though ambilis niya maubos tuwing meal time.
Shuin. 100-B Maria Clara Street. Their smoked chicken (their specialty) is DA BOMB We dined there once and this guy… he came to pick up his order of 20 (!!!) whole smoked chickens! Addict, sir?
Ludy’s Lugawan 107 Naval Ext, Baritan, Malabon. The only lugaw in my life!! Recommended by this journalist.
Aling Mely’s Carinderia A. Bonifacio St, Malabon. Legendary carinderia which is more than 50 yrs old. Recipes passed on from generation-to-generation. My favorites here are mechado, alamang sa kamias, ginataang langka. Any seafood dish (rellenong pusit!) is great kasi sariwa talaga.
+1 sa Panciteria, their noodles (all kinds) are so affordable, for 200 pesos the amount can feed 8-10 people! Masarap pa.
I always like drinking iced chocolate mint at Theo’s bakeshop also along Maginhawa. They also have wide array of pastries and meals.
Artsy Cafe on the end of Maginhawa nearest Philcoa, has one of the coolest ambiance and good for date places on budget.
Gubat restaurant along CP Garcia also has a great ambiance for feel good eating, but you have to eat with your hands. I find it homey and you can also order wine with your food.
