Kumusta naman mga colleague niyong taga-UP? May pagkakaiba ba kapag ka-batch niyo / mas matanda / millenial ang UP officemate niyo?
Madami kaming from UP sa office (UPD and UPLB). Minsan pag may bago na medyo extreme pabibo bordering on epal, alam ko na, from UP 'to.
I hired a couple of UP grads as well. Ayoko man maging bias, pero nauuwi din talaga ako sa UP grads e. From my very same college. May common experiences that help me reach out/communicate with them no matter the age gap. At oo, malaki ang age gap. Mga 20yrs
I tend to hire UP people dati. Just because safer bet sila, in general. Yung isang school kasi medyo mahirap utusan, at impatient pagdating sa career growth.
But one GM told me before to try not to hire in my “image and likeness”. That diversity is important for a team to grow. So natuto ako from there. It did work.
I also try to reinforce din sa team, minsan kasi (pag bagong UP graduate), pakiramdam nila biyaya sila ng Diyos sa sangkatauhan so kailangan mo hilahin pabalik sa lupa.
Hi @arwen - I asked them what are you here for? Why did you apply for the job? What are your aspirations? How can we work together? sa simula yan…
And then I write my observations in my personal journal to keep track of their strengths. I allow them to pursue it. Pero I always remind them that we are paid to do tasks 1-5 and I negotiate with them. I share all the opportunities at work (e.g. seminars, workshops, etc) and I encourage them to go and participate, and then feedback to me what they experience there. And I try my best to give them the space to decide even for smaller things at work so they feel more empowered and confident.
Years ago, 3 kami taga-UP. Pero, karamihan ng mga nagiging good friends ko in the community taga-UP din. Pinakainteresting kong friends is yung dentist ko and his wife. The dentist is from HK, UP grad ng dentistry. He proudly displays his diploma sa clinic nya. The wife is from SG, also a UP grad.
Yes. Lagi lukso ng dugo talaga pag UP Alum
Mostly im already drawn to them before even knowing na UP sila. Tapos pag nalaman namin ‘Ah kaya pala…’ haha! Akala mo naman aping api.
