Maginhawa

When I reminisce about my short stint in UP, hindi mawawala yung mga kalokohan namin sa boarding house, late night groceries at shawarma run. It’s been twenty years for me. Kamusta naman ang Maginhawa ngayon?

I miss the golden days

I live near Maginhawa and I saw its primetime. Was there when they first hosted the Maginhawa Food Festival. The waves of people, having a good time with food and good company, under the stars, it smelled good everywhere.

Before lockdown, there are still people but not as teeming like its former glory days.

Grill queen!

Madami nang kainan ngayon. Matraffic na din minsan.

Oo nga eh. Tapos ang “shiny” na nila. I kinda miss the days na konti pa lang food stalls dun and you can still hope to sample them all. Though diba matraffic ba dun lagi? :joy:

Ibang iba na. Dati Nanette’s at Ababu lang makakainan.

Nag boom sya na maraming kainan and food parks, umabot na Malingap to Sikatuna.

And also traffic!

By 2014, halos puno na. Maliwanag na hanggang Anonas.

Went to Maginhawa with the wifey last year and really enjoyed dining there. So much has changed but the vibe remains. I will keep coming back.

I remember na super dali lang dati to meet up with friends in the area, kasi paisaisa lang naman yung mga type ng kainan. Yung 24 hr na tapsilog place, Grill Queen, Pino, Don Day, Friuli.

Same! Been spending more than half my life na in the area.

Pero nung nag quarantine, grabe, yung katahimikan nung area, parang bumalik how the village used to be back in 2003!

I heard they now call this ‘Magin’
Like how Katipunan is Katip
Magin… boo
