How long do your work meetings usually take?

Let’s talk about this activity that we all love :face_vomiting:

Sa amin, our meetings usually end in 30 minutes or less. At least pag kami kami lang (up to the team leads level). Pag kasama na mga bosses, it usually lasts about two hours. Sometimes four or five :sob: Mercifully, mga once or twice a month lang yun. What about yours?

  • 0 to 30 minutes :grinning:
  • 31 to 60 minutes
  • 1 to 1.5 hours
  • 1.5 to 2 hours
  • 2 to 4 hours
  • Longer than 4 hours :sob:

Usually 30 mins to 1 hour depende sa agenda.

We practice meeting effectiveness by sending an agenda beforehand. I only attend when I have something to contribute or may announcement. Strict din si meeting host para di sayang ang oras. Minsan kasi kung saan-saan na napupunta ang discussion na wala naman sa agenda kaya trabaho ng host kung paano imamanage. Gasgas na sa amin yung “I’m conscious of time…”

Naimplement ito sa amin kasi ang daming wasted time sa meetings na pwede naman palang sagutin via quick phone call or email.

When I lead meetings I try to keep it very short, 30mins or under. Sayang oras ng mga tao. And I keep things in order, timewise saka contentwise. Pag tapos na usapan, wag na ulitin.

Staff meetings usually run for 1.5-2 hours. And I volunteer to be the timekeeper :whip:

Depende sa agenda. Kapag marami, expect nyo half day.

Kapag officer level, mga 2 hours. Kapag kasama staff, mga 4 hours.

Usually pag updates lang, quite casual, mga one hour.

Pag malaking project and we need to have the core team present, one hour to two hours.

When it’s the board meeting for my women’s group, milagro na one hour. I remember I used to sub as secretary nung buntis ako pag wala secretary namin, I make sure one hour. Same din when I’m in charge of the meeting, one hour talaga goal ko.

Depende sa client, depende sa application owner (our side; vendor kami), depende sa time of day. :embarasslaff: napansin ko pag South Asian or North Asian clients, kulang ang 90mins - lalo pag between 2PM and 6PM (GMT+8) nagaganap.

Depende sa ka meeting. Pag ikaw nagtawag, medyo may control ka sa takbo. Ako usually 30 mins to one hour. May decision items na, may background, etc. Discussion na lang talaga.

Pag C level kausap ko, medyo matagal minsan. Pero yun di mo pwede sabihan na “may hard stop po ako” Mas mahal oras nya so I’d assume important yung gusto nya malaman for him/her to spend that much time to discuss it.

I used to believe this until we had a three hour meeting that could’ve been an email :smash:

My condolences @nescafe_ice13.

@vaninay Parang mas safe talaga pag ikaw timekeeper no? Saka parang humahaba talaga mga meeting the higher the level of the attendees  Ang napansin ko lang din, most bosses are crap at running meetings (or baka sa UP lang ito)

@Queen_Amygdala I’ve heard some horror stories about South Asians. Sino yung North Asians? Siberians?

Oh yes - yung mga Russians! East Asians need more time for meetings but for both groups it’s more of language barrier that contributes to this. Because my Korean is survival-level and my Japanese is almost non-existent, I speak slower than 3 words/sec. Mababait naman sila. :embarasslaff:

And my condolences on the meeting that could have been an email. If I had a dollar for each of those, mas maaga kong natapos bayaran yung kotse ko. :rotfl:

Depends on the number of materials we are producing and the type of clients we are working with. There are clients na no comment at all during our pre-production meetings, meron namang very anal on details to the point na mema na lang. But on average, 1-1.5 hours for a 1 x 30s TVC or 1 x 2-minuter digital video. With chikahan on the side na yan.

Longest pre-production meeting I had lasted for 6 hours. Sakit sa ulo at lalamunan.
