Meron ba sa inyo na nagpalit ng trabaho o employer right before or during the pandemic?
Not me. Ngayong pandemic kahit merong mga headhunters na lumalapit sakin, I decline kasi parang ang unstable lumipat ng kompanya. Sayang nga e, ang dali sana pumunta sa interviews since puro videocalls lang.
Mag start ako sa new employer ko this June 8. Was already applying for them before the pandemic even started. Instead of the normal “on-site” interview, nag virtual on-site na lang ako using google voice (5x45 minute video calls with coding questions sa google docs). After making the cut, yung hardware, I shiship na lang nila sa bahay, tapos lahat ng onboarding e virtual na lang.
(I work in tech )
Started a new job under a new employer in February, so that was just a few weeks before Metro Manila was put on lockdown. It was a great move for me! I left my previous company late in 2019 because I was very unhappy and stressed sa mismong work and commuting to our workplace, tapos wala pang kwenta ang management. And I also wanted to look for a permanently WFH job… and I got it!
All interviews and the exams simula sa HR, hiring manager, CEO - all were done via Skype and email.
Now I have more time to do personal things, and study. It feels like my decision to resign fell into place kasi di rin ako naging affected ng changes brought about by the pandemic since WFH nga yung bago kong job (marketing and development related).
Ako naman I know I already got the job nung January pa. By March I started working from home which is actually the set up for my new gig, so practice na din. I officially moved to the new post May 1 lang, at first assignment ko din yung current base ko. Don’t know what to expect when travel bans are lifted and I will need to travel for work. For now okay pa, pero like most people nakakapraning din na mawalan ng work at this time. Seems to be the trend in different sectors kasi.
