Allergies

What food/things/situations makes you break out or itch all over, or even had to be taken to the hospital? When did you develop it? How did you manage it?

Start ko. I have skin asthma, which is exacerbated with either too hot or too cold temperatures. As in nangangati ako.

For some strange reason, I have developed an allergy to chicken when I lived in Malaysia. I thought weird yun, but I have heard of fellow Pinoys who had developed an allergy to chicken there–probably dahil daw sa feeds ng manok. I thought nawala na yun when I returned to the Philippines, but mayroon pa rin.

Therefore, kasama sa laman ng bag ko ay yung pamahid ko sa skin asthma and antihistamines.

Allergic ako sa henna tattoo. I had a couple of them done in Boracay. After two days ayan na ang kati at hives sa shape nung tattoos. Sa sobrang kati at pamamaga I had to rush to the ER to get antihistamine and other medicine.

Nagmarka sa katawan ko for a year yung tattoo which I thought was pretty cool, tbh

Hindi ka nag-iisa madam! Allergies ko seafood noon pa lang. Na ER ako noon dahil diyan tapos hindi na ako pinapasok sa work after lunch dahil worried mga parents ng students ko and I used to teach elementary level (Grades 1 and 2) . Last time I had contaminated na pizza sauce na May seafood was 2015. Muntikan na ako na-Hospital kasi I turned so red and started to have a hard time breathing. Luckily, yung gamot ko was just on top of my dining table where I was sitting when I was having the attack.

Basta I have issues with allergies since I was a kid. I always have antihistamines with me. Before the price of epipens have been jacked up, I carried one, especially when I travel.

+1 sa skin asthma. Best friend ko ang aloe vera pag summer kasi I get itchy and sometimes painful rashes pag mainit

Allergic din ako sa calamansi. Found out the hard way nung parang nagsara airway ko after drinking calamansi juice. Other citrus fruits are tolerable in very small doses.

When I was a kid allergic ako sa seafood, pero naovercome ko sya. Except I still get hives and my lips swell when I eat bagoong and other seafood na di fresh.

When I was a freshman I learned I was allergic to ibuprofen and had to be brought to the ER kasi nagsara na windpipe ko and I couldn’t breathe.

Also aspirin. And henna.

Mula nun nagkakapantal na ako pag scratchy yung surface, halimbawa pag umuupo sa cracked leather seats sa restaurants or when I scratch myself when I get itchy because of someting I ate.

Sometimes I get itchy when I eat potatoes. It started about five years ago when I ate mcdo fries then nagkapantal ako sa cheek. That was super weird because I’ve been eating french fries with no reaction before that. The itchiness doesn’t always happen after I eat potatoes though, so I still eat fries. :embarasslaff: I also get a rash when I eat seafood that isn’t fresh.

Virlix (cetirizine) is a lifesaver! It doesn’t make me sleepy so I can take it whenever.

Gin. I can drink all other alcoholic drinks except that (I regularly drink single malt pa nga). 1 week akong red all over at makati ang katawan kahit with antihistamines.

I get allergies/asthma from pollen, dust, and pet dander. I was diagnosed when I was around 9 years old. I remember my pedia giving me (oral) salbutamol for it, then nebulizer pag may attacks. Tapos bawal daw pets and stuffed toys especially yung mabalahibo. But no maintenance meds kasi eventually nawala rin.

But I remember having an incidence of hives nung nagnight swimming ako one time in college. I took an antihistamine, nawala naman. Nung nagmed ako, I kind of figured what happened, it was probably cold urticaria.

In med school, I had allergic rhinitis (sneezing, post nasal drip) regularly. Nadiscover ko yung carpet pala namin sa condo (we were 3 sharing the studio unit) ang cause. Siguro stress din. Pero starting in my 30’s, occasional wheezes lang pag may cough or colds kasi natritrigger talaga ang asthma ng upper respiratory tract infection.

I get the occasional contact dermatitis too, usually from dishwashing detergent and the epoxy resin I use for my geode art. I just take Claritin, and apply corticosteroid ointment.

Kaya takot akong magka-COVID. :sigh:

Ako din paranoid sa COVID-19 because of my allergic cough. It gets triggered so easily. :huhuhu: Kapag maalikabok or kapag nagpapalit weather, magkakasipon ako tapos automatic yung cough dahil sa post nasal drip.

Binigyan ako ng doktor ng NaCl spray noon for the post nasal drip tapos cetirizine. I hate it so much kasi kapag nakainom ako ng cetirizine, parang lasing ako the whole day. Pero I have to take it kasi when it wears off parang iluluwa ko yung lungs ko.

Cetirizine is really nakakaantok. Kaya i only take it in the evenings. It does guarantee you great sleep at nights, though.

Since my derma knows I cannot take antihistamines that would make me sleepy, she gave me Clatidyne–its non-drowsy and can be taken by pregnant women daw. Isa din is Co-Aleva (mas matindi ito).

Allergies from too much chicken, beer and watermelon.

Only one: Pollock Roe. Nangangati lalamunan at bibig ko kapag nakakain ako nyan.
