Iba lasa ng DD sa Boston vs dito Pinas? If ever I get to go to Boston, I also want to try that legendary, pioneering burger place they have (I forgot what the name is, but it’s not Mark Walhberg’s hehehe)

Mas masarap yung nainom ko sa Boston. Parang you’re paying a NescafĂ© sachet price for a gourmet kind of coffee. Speaking of burger, idadagdag ko yan sa listahan. Hindi ako sinabihan ng local friends ko about that eh so looks like they don’t go or not worth the hype :dunno:

OnT: bought new coffee beans. This surprised me about 5 or so years ago kasi the place is known for their tea, especially pu’er tea. They also grow coffee.

Hindi pala sa Boston yung “orig” burger
Sa New Haven, CT pala yun: Louis’ Lunch. Hehehehe

Magaling ba Chinese sa coffee?

I’ve tried Coffee Bay in Cebu. They’re Korean and they’re pretty good.

The Chinese are new to coffee being a major tea culture country. They have a long way to go. Kasi kung sa Pinas kape sa umaga, sa kanila either tea or soy milk. Coffee is more like a status symbol here. So far, the biggest local competition of Starbucks is Luckin’ Coffee. They’re just as good for a bit less than Starbucks and they’ve capitalized on the delivery apps before Starbucks jumped in. However, malaki pa rin competition from tea and milk tea. The way the coffee chains adapted is making sure there is the staple teas (I love Starbucks Teavana Chinese oolong and longjing tea) and other seasonal goodies locals eat e.g. moon cakes, zongzi (it’s like our suman), Wife/husband cakes (they kind of look like hopia).

Report ko later once nabuksan na and na-grind na yung Yunnan coffee beans ko.

Haven’t had Chinese style coffee (if there’s such a thing). Akala ko yung Coffee Bay ay Chinese, yun pala e Korean.

Their tea though are the best in the world. I have tried one of their “mid priced” ones – real tea leaves, fancy packaging – from former colleagues in Shenzhen and they were excellent. You have to brew them in a “tea maker” or whatever you call it.

They also source from the 3 major regions I suppose? I think beans from SEA are superior to those in SA or Africa. That’s because I love nuts, and SEA beans are nutty.

I just saw on FB

I’m actually headed to Yunnan in a week or two for business. Yunnan is bordering Vietnam so I think maybe similar to Vietnamese coffee. The packaging says “soft and herbal” for the beans. Again, pag nandun na ako, I’ll see for myself in a legit shop. If I’m feeling braver (praning ako bumiyahe kaya I cannot confirm travel dates sa client) I may venture to a coffee plantation the same way I would visit a tea farm when I’m in the area.

Wow. So they do grow and roast their own coffee! I hope they suck at it or else they’re going to take over that industry as well

hahahaha bad!

I like this. :see_no_evil:

Well I don’t put milk in my coffee, but I put cinnamon, how bad is it?

Cinnamon is in the category of peanut butter. It makes anything and everything better.

I also like cinnamon in my coffee. Weird na weird sa akin noon mga Kano kong colleagues.

Ako yung namamangha sa mga colleagues ko sa Tate when I tell them various kinds of coffees around the world. Dun ko narerealize na ibang-iba ang mundo ng mga coastal people in the US at saka yung mga nasa more rural areas.

Ano ang kape nila?

Usually Folgers and they use the usual coffee machine na may filter. Namamangha sa mga terms like Flat White, Turkish Coffee, French Press, Moka Pot, espresso (they usually say expresso), na cappuccino is a coffee you drink in the morning at kung ano pa they find ‘fancy’

‘Cause y’know they just like their good ol’ black coffee in the country.

My ex from NC and a friend from Georgia, ganun nga sila. May one time nasa starbucks ako, biglang sabe sakin, that’s not real coffee.
