George Floyd

Don’t know how to start this thread and what to ask, but just starting a conversation on everything / anything George Floyd related. Nung nasa US ako I lived in a less diverse state so medyo praning ako on this topic.

Kamusta ang mga members from the US? Been watching CNN every morning and the activities have really heightened.

Kaka-agit. Kakalungkot. Kakatakot. :disappointed:

I feel frustrated that I couldn’t discuss this topic face-to-face with my friends and classmates in grad school! Nakaka-agit nga talaga ang mga nangyayari. I’ve read that the Black Lives Matter protests have spread in different countries na like in New Zealand.

Did you experience any racism when you lived in the US @arwen?

Wala naman violent, but there are times na lalapitan ka ng ibang tao to ask for your name, money etc. Yun tipong hindi ka iiwanan hanggang sa destination mo. Pero pag kasama ko mga friends ko na puti nilulubayan nila ako :joy:

I purposely located sa city ng HQ namin, kasi it is the biggest employer for the state. So pag sinasabi ko na “Company XX moved me here” medyo OK treatment kasi sikat yung company namin sa city / state.

The more pronounced experiences suprisingly ay sa company mismo. May isang time nasa employee center ako ng office namin (para siyang country club setting), may isang retiree tinanong nya ako san daw manufacturing facility ako nag w work :joy:

Tapos usually mga middle managers nagtatanong, ano itsura ng bahay sa Pinas, surprised na may Mcdo tayo, or nagugulat mas advanced alam mo na concepts kesa sa kanila. These usually are not well-traveled people so yung idea rin nila ng mundo very restricted.
