Job Description:
Inventory, gathering, collation and set-up of spatial databases and maps
-Land Resources (At least irrigation, soil types, land use/ cover and
utilization)
-Geomorphology (At least elevation based on SRTM 90 and slope )
-Basic Climate and Variability
Integrate basic climate and variability zones with land resources and
geomorphology using appropriate GIS methods
Contribute to a draft report, including executive summary, variables/
datasets, scope and limitations, methodology, findings (especially in
the form of matrices of AEZs intersecting/ overlaid with provincial
boundaries), recommendations, bibliography and annexes
Qualifications:
Preferably, a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Natural Resources
Management, Water Resources Management, Geography, Environmental
Sciences, Environmental Planning and Management, Human Ecology
Knowledge in Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Highly proficient in oral and written communication skills as well as
statistical processing and analyses
At least three (3) to four (4) years of experience in development and
physical planning and related research
Adequate computer skills e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, ENVI,
ERMapper, IDRISI, ILWIS, ArcView/ ArcGIS, Manifold, AutoCad and
Bentley Verticals (Geographics and Descartes) would be an advantage
Extensive exposure to GPS-aided field reconnaissance or ground verification
Strong people skills and a team player
Keen interest in agriculture, hydrology, environment, weather, climate
